I have heard that the result of Gibbs’s scan is in and it is only bruising, apparently. No break. Let’s hope that the scan was properly analysed and that no ‘little surprises’ arise due to said bruising masking a crack in the bone. Good news though, I’m sure you’ll agree.
Tomas Vermaelen has had to pull out of training as he is still struggling with his achilles and so is a major doubt for the weekend. Better to leave him out of this weekend’s game and make sure he is ready for the Chelsea game. No point in taking any risks with him seeing as both Koscielny and Squillaci are doing well and Djourou is also an able replacement.
I’ll post more information if and when I get it.
* UPDATE 1: ESPN is reporting that Vela has been suspended by Mexico for six months due to partying while on international duty. At least that means no travelling to far flung parts of the world and returning too late to participate in the subsequent Arsenal game.
* UPDATE 2: Gibbs’s bruising officially confirmed by the official site. No break.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Hey there would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with?
I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having
a hard time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design and style seems
different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S Apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!

The number of injuries we get is frustrating. I agree that it doesn’t look good when all injuries last longer then first predicted. Something somewhere is a little bit askew. I talked briefly about that in a previous post.

Yet again a longer injury than first diagnosed. Vermalen was supposed to be out for 1 game. He’s already missed 4.
Yeah I agree, let Tommy-V rest for the clash with WBA and the champions league fixture next week. Our defence will have to be tight if we have to win at the bridge. We can get them at the counter-attck bcoz the philosophy of Chelsea has changed quite alot. They remain open at the back, I noticed this during games against Blackpool. Probably bcoz they attack so much that they forget about their defense. Although it is remarkable that they have not conceded more than 2 all season…
Cheers,
DKD

Will have some more injury news on tomorrow’s blog.
wait till arsenal’s med team get their hands on him short will become 6 weeks the then 6 months.
It’s been like this since Lewin’s brther took over…
Haven’t heard anything on Diaby as of yet. But, if and when I do, it’ll appear on the blog.
Any news on Diaby? Is he back for the weekend?
Yep, today is a good day.
Gibbs injury is a bruice Hooray
The achilles is always a dodgy injury and takes time. Not sure if I have ever heard of a short achilles problem. Fingers crossed he is back for Chelsea.
I agree that Djourou held his own last night and along with Koscielny, Squillaci and Vermaelen, we have four good centre halves.
I hate to hear ‘little problem’ too because it tends to turn into weeks/months…but I’m trying to stay positive.
hope you’re right as gibbs was fantastic last night. koscielny was terrific as well. i think we may have a quality player there. despite what some other blogs have been saying i thought djourou looked solid and dare i say composed last as well. starting to get concerned about vermaelen now. he was only out for a few days a after the international break and this is turning in to a bit of a stretch now. i always worry when wenger says “it’s a slight problem” as i remember rosicky had a slight problem a few years ago and we didn’t see him for 18 months.
Obviously I can’t name my source. But it has been accurate before, so have no reason to doubt it now.
and where did u hear this from (that gibbs only has bruising?)
Wow..that is a pretty good news for every gunner around this planet..even me in Tanzania am excited..hahahaaa
Yeah, it’s important that Gibbs stays fit. We need to keep Clichy on his toes and can’t afford to lose any more players to long-term injuries.
Thanks.
hope ur source is right.. will be a cruel blow to lose gibbs now..
